An Opportunity for Earning a High School Diploma and Career Credentials

Greetings Parents and Guardians:
This Miami-Dade County Public Schools calling with a very important message. We understand that the path to graduation can sometimes take unexpected turns. For students who have withdrawn from high school, we want to share an exciting opportunity called the Graduation Alternative to Traditional Education (GATE) Program.

The GATE Program is designed to help students aged 16 to 21 who have withdrawn from high school re-engage with their education and earn valuable career education credentials while simultaneously completing a high school diploma or its equivalent. This program allows eligible students to enroll concurrently in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course and an Adult Education, Adult High School, or GED Preparation course. The goal is for students to earn both an industry certificate and their high school diploma or its equivalent within three years.

If your child has withdrawn from a traditional high school and is interested in this program, please have your child access the Application and Enrollment Form. Once the student application and enrollment form are received, the M-DCPS Postsecondary Institution will review the application against the GATE program eligibility criteria and work with your child to identify and select an eligible CTE program. Students will receive correspondence regarding their eligibility.

We encourage you to explore this valuable opportunity that can help your child achieve their educational and career goals.
